Bo'ness – or Borrowstounness – is a former port and industrial town on the south of the River Forth, two miles north of Linlithgow and eight miles east of Falkirk. The area is steeped in history – the Antonine Wall reached the Forth just east of Bo'ness, and there is a Roman fort on the Kinneil Estate, where James Watt worked on his steam engine. Trade from Holland and France and industries including salt–panning, mining, and ship-building made Bo'ness a wealthy burgh. Sun shines on 101st Queen Shanagh

The sun shone brightly as Bo'ness crowned its 101st Children's Fair Queen on Friday, with thousands packing the slopes in front of the town hall to see Shanagh Penman of Deanburn School crowned.
