Scottish Railway Preservation Society
The Scottish Railway Preservation Society manages Scotland's biggest collection of historical railway items, including more than 250 locomotives, carriages and wagons.
The collection is used for two great tourist attractions - the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway and the Scottish Railway Exhibition.
The Railway was built by the volunteers of the Society from Bo'ness Station along the shores of the Forth and up to the quiet woodlands of Birkhill, where passengers can visit the fascinating underground experience of Birkhill Fireclay Mine. The line also continues to a junction with the main line near Whitecross, and it is hoped that this section will be open to the public in 2009.
The Exhibition is the second largest railway museum in Britain, housed in two huge purpose-built buildings to the north of Bo'ness Station. There's plenty to see and do, and adults and children alike will enjoy the opportunity to climb into and onto many of the locomotives on display.
