Diz any buddy ken why they got these names

by william Buchanan

For many years, I and many others, have asked this question. we lived in Castleloan and it had the strange name for this part of the block.

It was named the Piano block, I recall the name but it puzzles me as there wasn't a piano in the block at all - a few mooth organs but nae pianies!!!

There is another strange area across the road from the piano block - this has been christened MOSCOW, but there was never a Russian abiding there - perhaps an old Polish man but never a Russian family

Can any one explain why these strange names were stuck to these places?

If you know will you please contact me on the phone 01506 824923

Sincerely William White Buchanan

Memories, Nostalgia & History

History doesn't have to be in black & white

Your memory of a local character or a school photo from the last ten years can be just as interesting as wars and Victorians.
