23/4/2008 Message from Cornwall. ING Hayle Harbour Development.
Bo'ness ought to be twinned with Hayle in Cornwall, UK. We are a small seaside port town suffering from decades of neglect to the harbour and waterways, and we too have had our harbour and associated land owned for some time by I.N.G. real Estate. Like Bo'ness, I.N.G. plan a large mixed development, including harbour regeneration and significant house building over the next few years. Outline planning permission is due to be submitted this week, and as a town councillor I have seen the pre-submission presentation, impressive, but bound to upset some people! How are YOUR development plans coming on? Graham Coad, graham.coad@hayletowncouncil.net
- I don't know if you may have receive my previous email as I had no reply, so will try again. Like Hayle ande Bo'ness we in Fremantle, Western Australia are also under attack from ING. Brilliant company, one should have shares. They prey upon Ports/airports/public open space by ingratiating themselves with the big ducks in the little pond. Our history is not as impressive as yours but ING will demolish heritage buildings in Austalia's young history i.e. the original, intact immigration building where half a million Europeans, predominately British started their new lives in Australia. The site where a union martyr was killed in our second only Civil War. There is so much more. Love to hear from you. A foreign owned company, waving around a Judas dollar with no concern for the heritage of a country... Regards, Sue John. suzannej@iinet.net.au
- So employment, revitalisation, massive re-generation and extensive investment should be prevented to commemorate a war monger? I have never heard such complete and utter rubbish. Hayle needs this investment and amongst many others welcome the investment by ING. Yes there will be more traffic, but no doubt Penwith will condition ING into addressing AND PAYING for road improvements, they should themselves have improved years ago and in view of the revitalization and expenditure that said traffic will bring, the benefits far outweigh the NIMBY objections and before you state the obvious, yes I do live in Hayle and the roads in question lead to my property, but I am prepared to tolerate the dissadvantage as I appreciate and welcome the huge advantages this development will bring to a struggling town, which is little more than a contraflow through to the hugely popular St Ives. Hopefully the wealth creation will be retained and encouraged to remain in Hayle once the development is complete - BRING IT ON
- War monger!!! Your lack of knowledge of Australian history is understandable J.Kerry but please do not condemn the memory of your forebears just because you are ignorant of their struggle in a new land. It is the heritage and history of British immigrants to the big southern land on the other side of the world these intrepid travellors set out to make their home and enhance their lives. It is not called Terra Australis for nothing. A multi-national overseas raider is to destroy valuable historic buildings to create a bland monster shopping centre no-body needs. Then ING takes its money and runs. Great for the shareholders, shocking for your and my pioneering history.
