Bo'ness Public School pupils proved their art skills are top-notch, when they lifted the first, second and third prizes in the annual Sea Box Society competition.

Primary seven pupils across Bo'ness were asked to produce artwork celebrating 100 years of the Bo'ness Fair.

And Melanie Snedden, Kirsten Miller and Jordan Barrowman from the school obviously impressed judges with their artistic talents, scooping the top three positions.

The competition - which is designed to get kids interested in the history of the area - has been running annually for the last 10 years, but this was the first time Bo'ness Public School lifted any of the prizes.

The school was presented with the Eric Potter memorial Trophy, and the primary seven class won £25.

Their pieces will now go on show in Bo'ness Public Library.

The Sea Box Society was founded in 1634 to help those who were poor or less fortunate in Bo'ness. Skippers used to put one-tenth of their profits from every successful voyage into an iron-bound sea chest to use in times of need.
