23/12/2009Controversial Bo'ness homes plan gets go-ahead
Plans for 200 new homes at the Drum have been approved
Plans for nearly 200 new homes at The Drum in Bo'ness have been approved, after housebuilders Mactaggart and Mickel won an appeal.
Work is due to start within three years at the site on the south-east of the town, with the company saying local resources, suppliers and employees will be used.
Talks are on-going with Falkirk Council about an off-site community facilities payment, which could be in the region of £200,000.
Planning consent was rejected by councillors last summer, after nearly 100 locals opposed the proposals, with concerns voiced over road safety and visual impact. Over 240 homes have already been built at The Drum, with the development winning a national greenfield award.
