Fire crews tackle massive blaze at Bo'ness woodyard
9 August, 2012Teams of firefighters battled through the night to bring under control a massive blaze at the Alexander Anderson Woodyard on Haney’s Way in Bo’ness.
Fire crews from across the region were called to the woodyard at 10.40pm on Wednesday 8th August, and on arriving at the scene found a large quantity of compacted sawdust well alight. At the height of the fire, more than 40 firefighters and six appliances were at the scene.
The blaze has been extinguised but firefighters are expected to be at the woodyard for some time. The cause of the blaze is not yet known, and Central Scotland Fire and Rescue has begun an investigation.
Laurence Bissett, who took the photos seen here said: “The fire lit up the whole area, and I counted six fire engines.”
Police have said that the Grangepans road between at the junctions of Cowdenhill Road and Philpingstone Road is expected to be closed throughout Thursday 9th August.
