See world-class production of The Nutcracker at the Hippodrome this Christmas
20 Nov 2009This Christmas the Hippodrome, Bo'ness gives you the chance to see a world-class production of this seasonal classic when it presents a magnificent performance of 'The Nutcracker', filmed live and projected digitally in the Hippodrome's stunning auditorium on 20th December at 2:30pm and on Christmas Eve at 7:30pm.
The unique interpretation, choreographed by Kirill Simonov, was filmed in the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg - home to the Kirov Ballet company and to the ballet's first staging in 1892. The show stars the eye-catchingly vivid Russian soloist Irina Golub as young Masha/Clara, presented with the gift of a nutcracker on Christmas Eve by mysterious toymaker Drosselmeyer (stylishly played by well-known mime artist and founder of the avant-garde Derevo theatre company: Anton Adasinsky). As the clock strikes midnight the nutcracker (the impeccably virtuoso Leonid Sarafanov) comes to life, and a magical adventure unfolds.
