The Romans are coming to Bo’ness for Kinneil heritage day!
Look out your spears and sandals - the Romans are returning to invade Kinneil Estate in Bo’ness!
The parks’ annual heritage day, on Sunday, August 26, will have a Roman theme and there will be lots of free games, activities, crafts and entertainment.
Adrian Mahoney, from the Friends of Kinneil, told s1bo’ness: “Hopefully the weather will clear up for the next big event - the Kinneil Heritage Day on August 26, when the Romans will be coming along!
“Things have been slower at Kinneil, probably because of the weather. But it's great to visit on a rainy day - for young and old alike."
The area’s ties with the mightiest of empires goes back to when Roman soldiers came to Kinneil Estate to build the Antonine Wall and a Roman fortlet, not far from Kinneil House. Click here for details of Kinneil Museum.
Admission to the heritage day is free. The fun in the park kicks off at 12.30 pm and runs until 4.30 pm. Kinneil House will also be open that afternoon for free tours. Note the slightly earlier times for the House – you can see inside from 12pm- 4pm, with last admission at 3.30pm, again free of charge.
